Mission
Our mission is to educate all students in San Antonio ISD on the importance of cyber safety to ensure that our students exhibit the characteristics of responsible digital citizens.District Standards

State Standards
The Technology Applications Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) found in 19 TAC Chapter 126 describe what students in K-12 should be able to do using technology in and out of the classroom. The TEKS are to be used when providing instruction in Technology Applications as well as in other curriculum areas (when applicable). The goal of Technology Application TEKS is for students to gain technology-based knowledge and skills and to be able to apply those skills to all other curriculum areas. These TEKS are organized by grade groupings: K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12. There are benchmarks at grade levels 2, 5, and 8. Within each grade grouping, there are four common strands: Foundations, Information Acquisition, Work in Solving Problems, and Communication.National Standards
National Educational Technology Standards (NETS-T) and Performance Indicators for Teachers
Innovative and effective teachers in technology model and apply the National Educational Technology Standards for Students (NETS-S) as they create, implement, and assess multiple learning experiences to engage students in the learning process; enrich thier professional practices; improve student learning; and provide models for students, colleagues, and the community. All educators in San Antonio ISD should adhere to the NETS-S/NETS-T standards and performance indicators for thier prespective grade levels.
CIPA Compliance
The Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA) is a federal law enacted by Congress to address concerns about access to offensive content over the Internet on school and library computers. CIPA imposes certain types of requirements on any school or library that receives funding for Internet access or internal connections from the E-rate program – a program that makes certain communications technology more affordable for eligible schools and libraries.Expectations

Email Guidelines
Students are expected to:- Use appropriate language when sending email messages to other students as well as staff members such as teachers, coaches or the principal
- Be cautious when opening messages from unrecognized senders which could result in a virus or unwanted spam
- Tell their teacher or other school staff members when any message they receive is inappropriate or makes them feel uncomfortable
- Foster a positive online environment by not engaging in cyberbullying practices
- Use their own identity when sending messages and not the identity of others
- Handle email passwords with care by not sharing it with others
- Follow the SAISD Acceptable Use Policy Guidelines
- Understand any and all email messages sent and/or received through the District email system are public and monitored by District personnel
- Be aware of the consequences of engaging in inappropriate online behavior to include- cyber bullying or harassment

Online Safety Tips
- Be responsible online: Do not share personal information.
- Be aware: Delete unknown e-mails because they might contain viruses.
- Be cautious: Do not respond to any messages from people or organizations you do not know or feel uncomfortable with. Make sure to report it to an adult or the authorities (if necessary).
- Be appropriate: Know that what you write on the Web is not private, use netiquette.

Parent Information
- Monitor- The computer should be in a open, visible placed shared by everyone
- Communicate- Discuss Internet safety at an early age and discuss appropriate and inappropriate uses
- Explore- Surf the Internet with your children
- Report- Remind children to report any illegal content to you so that you may report it to the correct authorities
